what is ukrr? how does ukrr work? news resources faqs contact ukrr introduction the uk research reserve (ukrr) is a collaborative distributed national research collection managed by a partnership between the higher education sector and the british library . it allows higher education libraries to de-duplicate their journal holdings of a title if two copies are held by other ukrr members, ensuring continued access to low-use journals, whilst allowing libraries to release space to meet the changing needs of their users. phase one of ukrr showed the effectiveness of creating a shared collection of low-use journals, with eight higher education libraries releasing over 11,000 metres of shelving through coordinated de-duplication. with funding from the higher education funding council for england (hefce), ukrr continued its work of building a sustainable national research collection in phase 2. in phase 2, ukrr has processed nearly 95km of shelf space while retaining approximately 18,800 scarce holdings. ukrr is now in phase 3 and aims to work with all libraries who wish to make informed decisions about their low-use print collections. ukrr and british library workshop ukrr and the british library will jointly host a workshop in london on 20th july 2018 to discuss ukrr’s future beyond the hefce-funded phase. see here for further details and how to register. workshops held for potential contributing libraries ukrr held workshops at imperial college london, in october 2017 and january 2018, to introduce the project to potential new contributing libraries and explain how they may take part in ukrr phase 3. collaborative monograph storage feasibility study published the national monograph steering group commissioned report "feasibility study on monographs" is now available and can be downloaded here . introduction what our members say feasibility study on monographs phase 3 contributing libraries larch login
